Weather Alert: Heavy Rain and Flash Floods Across Afghanistan
DID Press: National meteorological authority under the Taliban has issued a new warning indicating a high probability of heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, strong winds, and sudden flooding across 32 provinces of Afghanistan. The weather system is expected to begin on Tuesday, April 7, with only the provinces of Farah and Nimruz excluded from the alert.

According to forecasts from the meteorological department, rainfall levels across different regions are expected to range between 10 and 65 millimeters, a volume that could significantly increase the risk of flash floods, urban flooding, and road damage in vulnerable areas.
The agency also warned that in high-altitude and colder regions—including the Salang Pass—there is a strong possibility of heavy snowfall. Such conditions may trigger avalanches, block mountain routes, and disrupt transportation and logistics.
Authorities have urged residents, particularly those living in flood-prone areas, to take precautionary measures and avoid stopping near valleys, riverbeds, and known flood routes during the severe weather period.
