China Urges Date for 2nd Round of Taliban-Pakistan Talks

DID Press: Negotiations between the Taliban and Pakistan are ongoing in Urumqi, with China calling for a specific date to be set for the second round of talks.

News sources reported that Taliban and Pakistani officials have been working since 13 Hamal to consolidate the outcomes of their discussions in Urumqi.

An Afghan official told the outlet Pakistan Daily that the meetings have not yet reached a final conclusion and currently serve as a preparatory stage for future decisions.

He added that negotiating teams will submit their reports to the leadership of both sides, and any significant decisions will be announced afterward.

A Pakistani official also emphasized that negotiators are focusing on the next steps, noting that China has requested the parties to determine an exact timeline for the second round of negotiations.

According to the official, the participants are likely to reach an agreement during the current session on holding a follow-up round of talks.
