CSTO Reaffirms Continued Aid to Afghanistan and Monitoring of Security Threats

DID Press: 43rd meeting of the working group of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Collective Security Treaty Organization was held to discuss developments in Afghanistan. The session was attended by Samad Ordabayev, delegations from member states, and representatives of international institutions.

Participants included representatives from United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism, the United Nations Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia, the Secretariat of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the Executive Committee of the Commonwealth of Independent States, the CIS Anti-Terrorism Center, the SCO Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure, the Coordination Service of the Council of Border Commanders of CIS member states, and the International Committee of the Red Cross.

During the meeting, participants held extensive discussions on Afghanistan’s current situation and stressed that the level of threats and potential risks originating from Afghan territory remains high.

They also emphasized the necessity of continuing humanitarian and economic assistance from CSTO member states to the Afghan population.

Adopting a unified position, the participants underscored the importance of sustained monitoring of developments in Afghanistan and support for peaceful processes within the country.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the protocol of the 43rd session and the working plan for the second half of 2026 were formally approved.
