DID Press: Khawaja Asif, Pakistan’s Defense Minister, welcomed the two-week ceasefire between Iran and United States and called on Islamic countries to actively protect this achievement and remain vigilant against potential threats to regional peace.

Speaking on Wednesday at the National Assembly, Asif expressed hope that the Iran-US ceasefire would succeed and lay the groundwork for lasting peace in the region.
He stressed that the Islamic world must play a more active role in preserving the process, stating: “We hope to succeed in establishing peace and reconciliation, but the Muslim Ummah must remain vigilant to safeguard these gains and be alert to threats to peace.”
The minister also highlighted Pakistan’s role in facilitating talks among different parties in the Gulf region, adding that the country seeks to promote peace between the “brothers on both sides of the Gulf.”
Referring to Islamic teachings, Asif emphasized that peace and reconciliation are core principles of Islam, and said that recent achievements could elevate Pakistan’s global standing.
He further warned of increasing Israeli influence worldwide, including in Europe, the United States, and some Arab nations, noting that Pakistan now has a significant opportunity to play a leadership role in countering this trend.
