Senior Iranian Delegation Arrives in Islamabad for High-Stakes Talks

DID Press: A high-level delegation from the Iran led by Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf arrived in Islamabad early this morning, signaling Tehran’s engagement in ongoing diplomatic efforts.

The delegation includes Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and was received at the airport by senior Pakistani officials, including Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Army Chief Asim Munir.

Speaking to reporters upon arrival, Ghalibaf responded to recent statements by U.S. officials, citing Iran’s past experiences in negotiations with the United States. He stated that Iran approaches talks with goodwill but remains cautious due to previous breakdowns in agreements.

“Our experience in negotiations with the Americans has repeatedly involved failure and broken commitments,” he said, adding that Iran had twice been attacked during ongoing negotiations despite participating in good faith.

Ghalibaf emphasized that Tehran is prepared to reach a genuine agreement, provided that Washington demonstrates serious intent to respect Iran’s rights. He warned that if negotiations are used merely as a tactic for political maneuvering, Iran is capable of defending its interests and will rely on the strength and resolve of its people.

The visit comes amid heightened regional developments and intensified diplomatic engagement between Tehran and Islamabad, with expectations of a series of high-level meetings between officials from both countries.
