DID Press: Pope Leo XIV strongly criticized military policies of leaders in United States, stating that the killing of civilians has no justification and that warfare cannot be considered divinely sanctioned.
According to reports, Pope Leo XIV said: “No reason can justify the shedding of innocent blood, and God does not bless any armed conflict.”
He emphasized that violence and war are fundamentally incompatible with religious teachings and moral principles.
The pontiff further stated: “Anyone who follows Christ cannot stand with those who once used swords and now drop bombs.”
