Herat Approves 24H Operations at Islam Qala Border Crossing

DID Press: A proposal to shift the Islam Qala Border Crossing customs terminal to 24-hour operations has been reviewed and approved during a meeting held in Herat involving local officials and representatives from relevant ministries.

According to a press release from the Herat provincial administration, the meeting was attended by Islam Jar along with several local authorities and representatives from relevant governmental departments.

Officials from multiple institutions, including industry and commerce, customs, transport, public works, standards and quality authorities, as well as delegations from the Ministries of Finance and Commerce, participated in the discussions.

Following technical and administrative assessments, the proposal to operate the customs terminal on a 24-hour basis was approved with the aim of facilitating commercial traffic, increasing transit speed, and improving import and export processes.

Authorities stated that the implementation of this plan is expected to play a significant role in strengthening cross-border trade and reducing congestion at one of the country’s most important economic gateways.
