Pakistan Shares Details of Iran–US Talks with Regional Powers

DID Press: Following the inconclusive outcome of indirect negotiations between Iran and the United States in Islamabad, Ishaq Dar has held separate telephone conversations with his counterparts in Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Türkiye to brief them on the latest developments in the so-called “Islamabad talks.”

According to diplomatic sources, Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to continuing its mediation efforts and supporting dialogue as a means to prevent further escalation of regional tensions. In his discussions with the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia and Egypt, he emphasized the “essential and decisive” importance of maintaining commitments to the ceasefire and called for preserving a calm environment to allow continued negotiations.

During a call with Hakan Fidan, Pakistan’s role in facilitating dialogue between Tehran and Washington was reportedly appreciated. Fidan also invited Dar to attend the Antalya Diplomacy Forum, reflecting Ankara’s efforts to deepen coordination with Islamabad in managing regional crises.

These developments come after indirect Iran–US negotiations concluded on Sunday morning without a final agreement. The talks were initiated amid rising regional tensions and aimed at preventing the situation from escalating into a broader conflict.

In recent weeks, a 14-day ceasefire had been established through the mediation of Pakistan’s leadership, including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and senior military officials, to create space for diplomatic engagement.

The latest diplomatic activity suggests that Islamabad is seeking to transition from a host of negotiations to a more active regional coordinator role—an approach that could become increasingly significant if the stalemate between Tehran and Washington continues.
