80 Taliban Killed and Wounded in Clashes with Afghan police


Afghan security forces killed more than 40 Taliban members and wounded more than 30 others in the overnight attacks, officials said Tuesday.
According to DID news agency report, Taliban insurgents attacked many Afghan police checkpoints in Kandahar’s Maiwand and Zheray districts Monday night and were defeated by Afghan security forces.
45 insurgents were killed and 35 others wounded, according to authorities.
“Our forces resisted until they received reinforcement and air support,” said Zia Durrani, spokesman for Kandahar’s police chief.
“The Taliban were defeated,” he added.
Meanwhile, 22 Afghan police were killed and 15 others wounded in the attacks.
Taliban insurgents have a widespread activities in Kandahar province.
