Election Commission has announced that more than 400 voter registration centers have been closed due to insecurity and 400 other centers due to lack of registration materials.
Maliha Hasan, a member of the election commission said that in some cases, the Ministry of National Defense could not transfer registration materials to districts on time.

Meanwhile, Mohammad Radmanish, the deputy spokesperson for the Defense Ministry said that security forces have launched several clear up missions to provide the security in the election.
According to the election commission program, there should be close to 5,000 registration centers in the centers of the provinces and districts of the country, but 428 of these centers are still closed due to insecurity and 400 more are not opened due to lack of registration materials.

On the other hand, 433 centers are in areas which face a high security threat.
This comes as the registration process has not yet begun in Ghazni districts, while registration materials are still being transferred to some provinces.

Voter registration in the centers of provinces and districts will end on 28 May 2018, and the third phase will begin on 29 May in villages. The registration process in villages will end on 13 June 2018.

Statistics by the Election Commission released on May 17 show that so far at least two million people across Afghanistan have registered their names to vote ahead of the October elections.
