Durand, the legacy of colonialism: Nabil
My view over the recent debates!
The recent debate that has been raised among some political circles of our country about “Durand line,” will not have any other benefit, except spreading ethnic ruptures and reducing a national issue to a dispute between races, for expansionist interests of Pakistan.
Problems like Durand exists in many countries of the world, but still, countries are trying to solve their problems through peaceful ways. There has been such tensions, even in the colonist countries like England and Spain over Gibraltar since 1710. Almost all post-colonial countries are caught in such problems.
Durand problem is a national trouble for Afghanistan and a legacy British colonialism and later Pakistan. This is not a problem of an ethnic group or special political circles. But we must find a solution to it, that our country’s national interests and residents of the other side of Durand be provided.
European Union member states have found an appropriate and modern solution to such problems. A good solution, does not follow the aggressive policy of Pakistan and not be submitted to the ambitions of that country’s militants. In such circumstances that our country is subjected to the direct aggression of Pakistan, more combat should be conducted against the terrorism emanating from Pakistan and handed-down policies. We should not cause deviation of public opinion from our country’s basic cases, by posing issues, which are not in the political and security agenda of our country, and damage the unite and stable front line of the people and security and defence forces of our territory.
So, instead of creating divisions and undermining national unity among the people, it is right, that following questions to be asked from authorities:
1- Merging FATA with KP – which actually started working on it, what does it mean and what is the formal status of Afghan government officials in this case?
2- A document named Standard operation procedures (SOP), which was long discussed between the government of Afghanistan and Pakistan and according to Pakistan’s claim, has been signed between the two governments! What is it? And what issues it cover?
3- The press and politicians of Pakistan have repeatedly reminded from Border management system (BMS) with Afghanistan, if there is such document, so what is the content or the agreements of it?
4- What were the demands of Pakistan from the government of Afghanistan at the various apparent and hidden meetings, including a paper named (Non paper) that was delivered, during Sartaj Aziz visit from Kabul to his counterpart, in December 2015?
5- Why and who consciously or unconsciously zoomed out the activities of Daesh terror group/Khorasan branch (that does not have any relation with Daesh (ISIS) of Syria and Iraq, but one of the terror groups trained by Pakistan under the name of Daesh flag), until it was a pretext to legitimize the public intervention of regional countries in Afghanistan and their open support from Taliban?
6- Collaboration and alignment of Russia and Pakistan at this time on Afghanistan, that trigger movements of Pakistan along Durand line and at the same time intensified ethnic, sect and language debates and intensified military activities of Taliban throughout Afghanistan, what does it put out?
7- Taliban as the proxy force of Afghanistan’s enemies have been strong, to be able to occupy 50 percent of Afghanistan’s soil or we are weakened? And who are dividing us under the name of race, language and sect? And are these gaps strengthen the enemies of Afghanistan or undermine us?
Instead of all these deceitful thinking and deviating public opinion from the essence of the problem, we should be unite in addressing the main national problems and a way should be found that the goodness and salvation of the people of Afghanistan really be there.
