Peace Jirga to be Held with or without Taliban: Daudzai

“The consultative Loya Jirga is a national consensus to solve the problems in the country and we are trying to reach this consensus with the presence of the Taliban, but if the Taliban are not willing to participate in the Jirga, the people of Afghanistan themselves will reach a consensus,” Daudzai asserted, responding to reporters during a press conference.
According to him, Loya Jirga will be held as scheduled on April 29 and that there will be no delay in it.
“The Afghan government is in favor of meetings like Doha meeting and that the government is ready to attend such meetings in other countries,” he said, adding that no opportunities should be left unused.
“Peace Jirga in Afghanistan are similar to referendums in other countries,”
Mr Daudzai also said that they are in talks with those who boycotted Loya Jirga.
“We might have had shortcomings on providing information about the gathering,” he said.
According to him, the peace Jirga will be the most all-inclusive and the biggest Jirga in the history of Afghanistan.
