On Saturday, Mir Rahman Rahmani was elected as the house speaker by obtaining 123 votes against 55 votes of Mr Osuli, but now these MPs say Mr. Rahmani has not been able to win the majority of votes yesterday and has not been elected as the speaker in accordance with the principles of internal parliamentary duties.
They argue that a new election must be held to elect the house speaker.
Mr Osuli’s fraction says that 123 votes cannot be 50+1 of the 247 House constituency, but Mr Rahmani’s supporters say that the house constituency is 244 and 123 votes are 50+1.
Ghulam Hussain Naseri, an MP, says that 244 voted during the election, in which, according to the internal duties of the House and the constitution, 123 votes can complete the 50+1. He emphasized that Mr Rahmani is the speaker and must take office.
The security forces entered into the parliament to curb any possible violence.
