The German and UK embassies in Kabul reacted against Gulbuddin Hekmatyar’s remarks, saying that his statements should be investigated.
German ambassador to Afghanistan Peter Prugel condemned presidential candidate Hekmatyar’s statement in the strongest terms.
“Explicitly threatening w/ the use of violence is completely unacceptable, disqualifies him as candidate for democratic elections and should be investigated by the competent authorities,” Mr Prugel twitted Wednesday.
Gulbuddin Hekmatyar had previously said in an election rally that he will return to fortress if the elections would be plagued with frauds.
The UK ambassador Alison Blake, meanwhile, twitted Thursday that they condemn the Taliban and Presidential candidate Hekmatyar’s threat to resort to violence.
“These kind of comments should be consigned to Afghanistan’s past,” the envoy added.
