Outcome of border Investigation to be Shared with Kabul, says Iran’s Delegation in Kabul
The high-level Iranian diplomatic delegation that arrived in Kabul Tuesday morning to probe into border accident, met with the acting foreign minister M. Hanif Atmar, stressing that the offered documents will be addressed though legal channels.

The Iranian delegation led by Deputy Foreign Minister Mohsen Baharvand carried a consignment of medical equipment in his plane to Kabul to fight the coronavirus pandemic as well.
At the beginning of the meeting, Mr. Atmar thanked Iran for its assistance in providing medical equipment and other cooperation during the difficult period of the fight against COVID-19.
Mr Atmar discussed about the tragic border incident, various stages of Afghan delegation’s investigation and documents obtained about the issue. He called on the Iranian government to pay more attention to the joint investigation.
He noted that the research is aimed at finding facts, legal proceedings, and taking necessary measures to prevent such tragedies in the future.
Mr Atmar made the remarks in reaction to questions and reports over drowning of a number of Afghan nationals in the joint border river.
Mohsen Baharvand, head of the Iranian delegation, expressed his deepest sorrow over the incident and condemned it in the strongest terms
Referring to the good and brotherly relations between the two states, he added that this accident is not acceptable to the peace and government of Iran.
He underlined that his country is committed to jointly investigate and prosecute the incident with the Afghan delegation to ensure justice.
Mr Baharvand said he had received the documents found by the Afghan investigative committee and that he would investigate them through the relevant channels of his government and share the results with Afghanistan.
Both sides emphasized on the results of the investigation and legal action against the perpetrators of this incident, and discussed in detail the bilateral frameworks aimed at strengthening relations and strategies that could prevent the recurrence of such incidents in the future.
