Secret to Longer Life: Living Near Ocean
DID Press: A new study suggests that living near the ocean may be linked to a longer lifespan, with coastal residents living on average at least one year longer than the national average.

The research shows that while living close to the ocean is associated with greater longevity, living near rivers or inland lakes does not offer the same benefit.
Researchers analyzed data from more than 6,600 U.S. census tracts and found that coastal residents live, on average, at least one year longer than the national average.
This may be related to cleaner air, better climate, and increased physical activity near shorelines.
The findings indicate that not all bodies of water are equal when it comes to their impact on lifespan — only living by the ocean appears to provide these health benefits.
