Pakistani Army Chief’s Visit to US Without Addressing Key Muslim’s Issues

DID Press: Criticizing the Pakistani Army Chief’s second visit to the United States within a short period, Senator Mushtaq Ahmad Khan said that the meeting made no reference to critical matters such as Gaza, Al-Aqsa Mosque, and the release of Dr. Aafia Siddiqi.

Senator Mushtaq Ahmad Khan wrote on X that the Pakistani Army Chief’s meeting with U.S. officials included no agenda on important issues like the Gaza crisis, the situation of Al-Aqsa Mosque, and the freedom of Dr. Aafia Siddiqi.

The Pakistan Army’s press release also made no mention of these matters, which, he said, raises questions.

Dr. Aafia Siddiqi, a Pakistani neuroscientist, was arrested in Afghanistan in 2008 and, in 2010, sentenced in the United States to 86 years in prison on charges of attempting to attack U.S. forces.

In Pakistan, she is regarded as a symbol of injustice against Muslims.

Senator Mushtaq Ahmad Khan, emphasizing the importance of these issues for the people of Pakistan and the Muslim world, expressed concern over the course of Islamabad–Washington relations, urging greater attention to the concerns of Muslims.
