Poll: Putin-Trump Meeting Likely to Yield Political Deal

DID Press: A recent survey indicates that the majority of DID Press readers regard the recent meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin primarily as a prelude to a “political deal between Moscow and Washington.”

The poll, which posed the question, “What is the most likely outcome of the Trump-Putin meeting?”, found that 70 percent of respondents selected “political deal” as their answer.

By contrast, 10 percent of participants believed the talks could result in a ceasefire agreement in Ukraine, while 20 percent assessed the meeting between the two leaders as merely symbolic and without tangible results.

Notably, none of the respondents considered the strengthening of Trump’s international standing to be a plausible outcome of the summit.

Political analysts, however, largely viewed the meeting as advantageous for Putin, particularly in terms of reinforcing his global position and overcoming political isolation.

Overall, the results suggest that public opinion remains pessimistic about the prospect of reducing tensions in Ukraine and largely anticipates that the Trump-Putin dialogue will be confined to bilateral political arrangements rather than producing peace or any significant shift in the global balance of power.
