Iran’s Trade with Afghanistan Surges 84%
DID Press: Iran’s South Khorasan province exported over $1.75 billion to Afghanistan during the second half of last year, announced Mohammad Reza Hashemi, governor of South Khorasan.

Following the visit of an Iranian economic delegation to Afghanistan, the second border market in South Khorasan will become operational soon, he added.
According to Hashemi, the shared border between the two countries is being strengthened as a sustainable economic and security asset.
According to Tehran Times, trade between Iran and Afghanistan in 2024 increased by 84% compared to the previous year, reaching $3.197 billion.
Additionally, the value of goods transiting through Dogharoon customs checkpoint exceeded $1.6 billion by the end of July this year.
Based on these figures, South Khorasan accounts for approximately 40% of Iran’s total exports to Afghanistan.
