Over 2,500 Afghanistani Migrant Families Returned Home in a Day

DID Press: In a latest wave of returns, 2,598 Afghanistani migrant families re-entered the country on Sunday through various border crossings, a development officials say reflects a sharp increase in mass repatriations.

According to official figures, 1,230 families returned via Torkham crossing in Nangarhar, 132 families through Spin Boldak in Kandahar, 145 families through Silk Bridge in Nimroz, 11 families via Bahramcha in Helmand, and 1,080 families through Islam Qala in Herat province.

The surge in returns comes amid growing restrictions and pressures on Afghanistani migrants in neighboring countries.

Authorities in Afghanistan acknowledge that the influx has created challenges in providing assistance, citing shortages of resources and the urgent need for humanitarian support for returnees.
