Taliban Defense Minister Meets Qatari Deputy PM to Bolster Ties, Support from Doha

DID Press: Mohammad Yaqoob Mujahid, defense minister of the Taliban caretaker government, met with Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman bin Hamad Al Thani, Qatar’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, during his official visit to Doha. He strongly condemned recent Israeli attack on Qatar and reaffirmed Afghanistan’s solidarity with the Qatari people.

As part of ongoing diplomatic engagements between Afghanistan and Qatar, Yaqoob held talks with Al Thani on the latest regional and global developments, as well as ways to expand bilateral cooperation in military and security sectors, according to a statement from the Taliban Ministry of Defense.

During the meeting, Yaqoob condemned recent Israeli assault on Qatari territory, expressing condolences to the Qatari people. He assured that both Afghanistan leadership and poeple stand with Qatar in these difficult times.

He further stressed the importance of continued dialogue and enhanced security cooperation between Kabul and Doha, praising Qatar’s role as a mediator in regional affairs.
