Taliban Warns US: “We Will Turn Region Into Burning Powder Keg”
DID Press: In response to recent remarks by U.S. officials suggesting the possible reoccupation of Bagram Air Base, Hamdullah Fitrat, a spokesperson for the Taliban’s caretaker government, warned that any foreign intervention in Afghanistan would trigger suicide operations and turn the region into “a burning powder keg” for the United States and its allies.

Fitrat issued the warning in a video message that has gone viral on social media. Speaking in a poetic, chant-like tone, he said: “We are committed to peace, but if the Americans make another mistake, our martyrdom operations and recruitment will begin anew.”
The video was first published on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) by Fitrat himself and was later reposted by Zabihullah Mujahid, the chief spokesperson of the Taliban government.
The statement follows growing speculation about possible U.S. military interest in Bagram Air Base, north of Kabul, which Washington abandoned during its withdrawal from Afghanistan in August 2021.
