Pakistan Airstrike Kills Senior TTP Figures; Reports Claim Group Leader Targeted

DID Press: Pakistani media have reported that a targeted airstrike against senior leaders of Tahrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) was conducted with the cooperation of U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), killing at least two top commanders. Unconfirmed reports indicate that Mufti Noor Wali Mehsud, the leader of TTP, may also have been among those targeted.

According to local sources and unofficial Pakistani media outlets, the Pakistani military carried out an aerial operation against TTP positions in coordination with U.S. CENTCOM.

Two senior figures within the group were reportedly killed in the strike. While unofficial sources claim that Mufti Noor Wali Mehsud was also killed, no official confirmation has been issued by authorities in either Pakistan or Afghanistan.

Analysts suggest that if Mehsud’s death is confirmed, it could mark a turning point in regional security dynamics, potentially reshaping Pakistan’s counterterrorism strategy and its coordination with both the Afghan Taliban and the United States.

Islamabad has previously warned that its patience with cross-border militancy is wearing thin, cautioning that harboring militants could provoke a military response — a threat that this latest operation may be seen as fulfilling.

If verified, the strike would represent the most significant targeted aerial operation by Pakistan against TTP leadership in recent years, with potentially far-reaching political and security implications for the stability of the Pakistan-Afghanistan border region.
