DID Press: Following a “massive and devastating” explosion at an explosives manufacturing plant in the U.S. state of Tennessee, multiple people have been killed and many are missing. According to local officials, search and rescue operations are still ongoing.
According to ABC, the incident occurred on Friday morning at the Accurate Energetic Systems factory in McEwen, approximately 80 kilometers west of Nashville. Chris Davis, Humphreys County sherif, said that “some” individuals have lost their lives, but an exact death toll has not yet been released.
According to a statement from Humphreys County Emergency Management Agency, as of Friday evening, 18 people are still missing, and rescue teams are working to locate them.
Describing the explosion site, Davis said: “There’s nothing left to describe — the building has been completely destroyed.”
The cause of the explosion is still unknown, and investigations are ongoing.
