Netanyahu Ally Resigns, Criticizes October 7 Attack

DID Press: Ron Dermer, Israel’s Minister of Strategic Affairs and one of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s closest allies, resigned from his post on Tuesday.

According to Ynet News, Dermer wrote to Netanyahu that when he was sworn in as minister, he had promised his family he would serve for only two years.

Dermer added, “This government will be remembered both for the October 7 attack and for the handling of a two-year war across seven fronts.”

A key figure in Netanyahu’s foreign and security policy team, Dermer previously served as Israel’s ambassador to the United States and played a pivotal role in the Abraham Accords normalization agreements.

Netanyahu’s office has not yet commented on a potential successor.
