Afghanistan Moves Over 135,000 Tons of Goods by Rail in One Week
DID Press: Ministry of Public Works under the Taliban government announced that more than 135,000 metric tons of goods were transported via rail over the past week, an effort expected to boost job opportunities and national revenue.

According to the ministry, between November 6 and 12, a total of 135,494 metric tons of goods were imported and exported by rail.
The largest volume was moved through the Hairatan border port, which handled 98,525 tons. Other key routes included Aqina port with 12,595 tons, Turghundi port with 15,341 tons, and the Khaf-Herat corridor with 9,211 tons. The shipments included petroleum products, non-oil goods, and other consumer items.
The ministry added that 588 tons of trade goods were exported during the period, mainly consisting of dried fruit and pomegranate juice.
Officials emphasized that increasing rail transport and exports could generate more jobs, enhance national revenue, and contribute to the country’s economic stability, development, and self-sufficiency.
