UN Rapporteur to Visit Doha on Afghanistan Human‑Rights Crisis

DID Press: Richard Bennett, the UN Special Rapporteur on the human‑rights situation in Afghanistan, will travel to Doha, Qatar from 1 to 4 December 2025, Announced UNHCR.

During his visit, Bennett intends to meet with Qatari officials, diplomats, and members of the Afghan diaspora in Qatar to explore coordinated international efforts to uphold and protect the rights of the Afghan people.

This trip comes after the Council renewed his mandate by consensus in October 2025, reflecting ongoing concern over deteriorating human‑rights conditions in Afghanistan.

Bennett has repeatedly warned that under the rule of Taliban, Afghan women and girls face deep and systemic violations of their basic rights — including access to education, freedom of movement, and justice.
