DID Press: International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) reported that Chernobyl’s protective shelter, built after the 1986 disaster, was damaged by a drone attack, compromising its full protection of Reactor 4.

IAEA inspectors confirmed that part of the steel containment structure was destroyed in February. While initial repairs have been made, a full restoration is still required to prevent potential hazards, according to Director General Rafael Grossi.
The UN noted radiation levels remain within normal limits, and no radioactive leakage has been reported. Ukraine attributed the attack to Russia, which has denied involvement. The last operational reactor at Chernobyl was shut down in 2000, leaving the site as one of the world’s most sensitive nuclear areas.
