Herat Launches Advanced Surgeries amid Pakistan Border Closure

DID Press: Following closure of border crossings with Pakistan and the resulting inability of patients to travel for treatment, several advanced and complex surgeries have been initiated in the province for the first time, announced the Public Health Directorate of Herat province.

Officials said these surgeries include the removal of brain and spinal tumors, procedures related to esophageal and stomach cancers, lung and liver cancer operations, as well as thyroid and jaw tumor removals.

Health officials emphasized that these measures are an important step in strengthening Herat’s medical capacity and reducing the need for patients to undertake long journeys for treatment.
