Islamabad Launches New Strategy Against Militants by Shifting Security Narrative

DID Press: Amid intensified field operations, the Pakistani government has adopted a new approach by officially renaming militant groups, aiming to strip them of ideological legitimacy and portray them as foreign-backed actors.

In recent counterterrorism operations in the final days of 2025, Pakistani security forces dealt significant blows to separatist and extremist groups in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces.

In an intelligence-led operation in the Kalat region of Balochistan, four members of the group known as “Fitna al-Hindustan” were killed, according to the Pakistan Army. The army described these individuals as key perpetrators of recent attacks and affiliates of foreign-supported networks. Large quantities of weapons, ammunition, and communication equipment were also recovered from their hideout.

Separately, in Banda Dawood Shah, eight militants were killed during a heavy, hours-long clash between Kurram police and Counter-Terrorism Department forces. Officials said the attackers attempted to remove the bodies of their dead, but were forced to retreat under intense security fire.

Meanwhile, Lakki Marwat police issued an urgent security alert warning of a potential major suicide attack using a vehicle-borne bomb. The notice stated that groups affiliated with the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) are reportedly planning to target public places, including schools, crowded markets, and sports gatherings. Citizens were urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity immediately.

Reports also indicate that armed individuals fired rockets at the home of a senior member of the “Local Peace Committee” in the Abbasi Khatak area, leaving him injured.
