DID Press: Retired French General Michel Yakovleff has warned that escalating tensions between Washington and Europe—particularly over Greenland and former US President Donald Trump’s threats against NATO—could carry serious consequences for the United States.
Yakovleff said that if NATO were to collapse due to Trump’s insistence on acquiring Greenland, European countries would move to expel US forces from their territory.
“Europe does not have the means to go to war with the United States,” he said. “But we do have the ability to end their military presence in Europe.”
