Afghanistan Central Bank Destroys Over AFG 588M Worn Banknotes
DID Press: Afghanistan Central Bank announced it has destroyed more than 588 million Afghanis in worn and damaged banknotes in Kabul’s Deh Sabz district after collecting them from circulation.

The bank confirmed that 588.14 million Afghanis in old notes were systematically counted, verified, and incinerated in specialized furnaces.
The destroyed banknotes included denominations of 10, 20, 50, 100, and 500 Afghanis, and the operation was conducted under the supervision of a committee led by Mullah Mohammad Akhund, Second Deputy of Da Afghanistan Bank.
Officials said the initiative aims to facilitate daily transactions and prevent disruptions in financial exchanges across the country.
