Taliban: 2 Americans Detained in Afghanistan Over Legal Violations

DID Press: Zabihullah Mujahid, Taliban’s spokesperson, said several foreign nationals — including two US citizens — have been detained for alleged violations of Afghan laws.

In comments to local media, Mujahid said all foreigners entering the country are required to comply with domestic regulations and will face legal consequences in cases of non-compliance. He added that the cases are under investigation and decisions will be taken after the legal review process is completed.

Mujahid confirmed that the United States has been informed about the detention of its citizens. He did not disclose the nature of the alleged violations or the identities of the other foreign nationals involved.

The detentions come amid heightened tensions between Kabul and United States government, as the arrest of foreign nationals — including aid workers and Western citizens — has featured prominently in recent diplomatic frictions. Reports indicate that diplomatic contacts are ongoing between the two sides over the detainees’ status.
