Munir: Ties Peace with Afghanistan to Taliban Halting Terrorist Support
DID Press: Field Marshal Asim Munir, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and Commander of the Pakistan Army, stated that lasting peace between Pakistan and Afghanistan will only be achievable if the Taliban government ceases support for terrorist groups. He made the remarks during a visit to the border regions of Wana and South Waziristan to assess security conditions and operational readiness of deployed troops.

In a statement released by the Pakistan Army, Munir warned that the use of Afghan territory by groups he labeled “Fitna al-Khawarij” and “Fitna al-Hindustan”—including Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan and certain Baloch insurgent factions—to conduct operations against Pakistan is “unacceptable.” He stressed that all necessary measures will be taken to neutralize cross-border threats.
The army chief also praised the readiness of Pakistani forces during the “Ghazab Lil-Haq” operation and emphasized that the campaign will continue until Kabul provides practical, verifiable guarantees to halt armed group activities.
Relations between Pakistan and the Taliban have recently been at their most strained, with Pakistani airstrikes in Nangarhar and Paktika provinces and escalating border clashes, while mediation efforts by Qatar and Turkey have yet to produce a lasting agreement.
