DID Press: Zohran Mamdani extended Nowruz greetings to Iranian Americans, calling it an honor to celebrate the Persian New Year alongside the community in New York City.
In a message posted on X, Mamdani said: “Happy Nowruz to all Iranian Americans who call New York home,” adding that he had recently joined celebrations for Chaharshanbe Suri ahead of the spring holiday.
He described Nowruz as a time of renewal and hope, expressing wishes for “a new day” for the people of Iran.
However, the mayor noted that this year’s celebrations come under difficult circumstances. He reiterated his opposition to the ongoing war involving Iran and expressed hope that those marking the holiday can still find moments of joy.
