Foreign Tourist Visits to Afghanistan Surge in 2025

DID Press: Afghanistan recorded a notable increase in foreign tourist arrivals during (2025), reflecting growing international interest in the country’s historical and cultural attractions, Despite ongoing challenges.

According to data released by the Ministry of Information and Culture, more than 9,500 foreign tourists visited various regions of Afghanistan during the first eleven months of the year.

Visitors arrived from a wide range of countries, including China, Iran, Pakistan, India, Indonesia, Russia, the United States, France, Greece, and Germany, along with travelers from several other European nations.

Officials said most tourists traveled to provinces known for their rich historical and cultural heritage. Herat, Kandahar, Bamyan, Ghazni, and Kabul ranked among the top tourist destinations, offering ancient landmarks, historic monuments, and scenic landscapes that remain among Afghanistan’s most significant attractions.

Cultural and economic experts believe the tourism sector could play a key role in Afghanistan’s economic growth. They note that despite the country’s vast natural and historical potential, the industry remains significantly underdeveloped and requires further investment and infrastructure.
