Kabul Highlights Water Diplomacy and Regional Cooperation at Tashkent Event

DID Press: During an event marking “Water Week” in Uzbekistan’s capital, Kabul emphasized the importance of strengthening regional collaboration in managing shared water resources.

Mojibur Rahman Omar Akhundzada, Deputy Minister of Energy and Water for the Taliban-led government, spoke on equitable water distribution between Afghanistan and Central Asian countries, advocating for enhanced water diplomacy and the use of modern technologies to improve water management systems.

On the sidelines, he met with Uzbek officials to discuss expanding bilateral cooperation on water resource management. Afghanistan’s participation is seen as a key step toward deeper regional and international engagement on water issues, potentially laying the groundwork for more extensive collaboration across Central Asia.
