Afghan–Tajik Communities Celebrate Nowruz in Scotland
DID Press: Afghan and Tajik migrants in Scotland, in collaboration with a refugee support organization and the Embassy of Tajikistan, celebrated Nowruz to strengthen cultural solidarity.

The event was organized by an Afghan refugee support group with support from the Tajik Embassy in the United Kingdom.
Guests, cultural activists, and artists from Nowruz-celebrating countries attended the ceremony, showcasing aspects of their shared cultural heritage through performances, including traditional music.
Speakers described Nowruz not only as a festive occasion but also as a symbol of renewal, cultural coexistence, and hope for the future.
Organizers emphasized that the main goal of such programs is to build connections among migrant communities and reinforce a sense of cultural belonging.
They noted that Nowruz offers a valuable opportunity to gather and rejuvenate cultural identity within a multicultural environment like Scotland.
The celebration coincides with annual Nowruz observances by migrant communities worldwide, highlighting the festival’s role as one of the oldest cultural traditions and its importance in fostering international cultural ties.
