Taliban Rejects Report Linking Its Officials to al-Qaeda
DID Press: Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesperson of the Taliban, dismissed a report by an international think tank alleging ties between Taliban officials and al-Qaeda, calling the claims “completely false.”

In remarks to media outlets, Mujahid said that after the Taliban came to power, no foreign group has been allowed to operate in Afghanistan, adding that the security situation in the country is fully under control.
His comments come in response to a revised report by the Middle East Institute, which claimed that around 55 members of the Taliban administration have links to al-Qaeda. Taliban officials swiftly rejected the allegations.
Mujahid stated that such reports are intended to mislead public opinion and damage the image of Afghanistan’s authorities, insisting they have no factual basis.
He further reiterated that the Taliban remain committed to international obligations, particularly preventing Afghan territory from being used by armed groups against other countries.
The spokesperson also claimed that security in Afghanistan has improved compared to previous years and that no external group poses a threat to neighboring states. He added that the Taliban will not allow Afghanistan to become a base for extremist activity.
