7 European Countries Call for EU Sanctions Against Israel
DID Press: Ahead of the upcoming foreign ministers’ meeting of European Union in Luxembourg, seven member states—including France and Sweden—have called for the imposition of sanctions against Israel.

According to a report by EUobserver, France and Sweden, along with five other EU countries, are pushing for restrictive measures targeting Israel. A draft letter reportedly prepared by Sweden for the ministerial meeting proposes a ban on imports of products originating from Israeli settlements.
The issue is expected to be discussed at the EU foreign ministers’ meeting scheduled for 21 April in Luxembourg.
Over the past two years, the EU Council has repeatedly debated the possibility of economic sanctions against Israel, but has so far failed to reach a unified decision due to internal divisions among member states.
The renewed push comes amid continuing disagreements within the bloc over how to respond to Israel’s policies, with Spain also recently calling for EU-level sanctions.
