At Least 14 Killed in Roadside Bomb Attack in Colombia
DID Press: At least 14 people were killed and 38 others injured in a deadly roadside bomb explosion in southwestern Colombia, authorities confirmed, in one of the deadliest recent attacks in the conflict-affected region.

The blast occurred on Saturday in Cauca Department, an area long known for instability and coca cultivation. Officials attributed the attack to dissident factions of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, which continue violent activities following the group’s formal disbandment.
Gustavo Petro condemned the perpetrators as “terrorists and drug traffickers” and called for decisive military action against those responsible. He also linked the attack to Ivan Mordisco, one of the country’s most wanted insurgent leaders.
Among the wounded were five children, while emergency teams continued searching for missing individuals in the aftermath of the explosion.
The bombing took place along the strategic Pan-American Highway, where attackers reportedly blocked the road with a bus and a vehicle before detonating the explosive device. The powerful blast overturned nearby vehicles and left a large crater in the roadway.
Military officials described the incident as a terrorist attack against civilians, prompting an increased deployment of security forces across the region.
The attack comes as Colombia approaches a presidential election period, heightening concerns about a potential surge in violence and instability nationwide.
