NYT: US Will Pay Heavy Price for Energy Hubris Amid Iran Conflict

DID Press: The New York Times reports that United States will face significant economic consequences due to its “energy arrogance,” following what it describes as an unsuccessful war against Iran.

According to the analysis, the assumption that the US is insulated from the repercussions of the conflict is considered a strategic miscalculation. The report notes that the United States still imports roughly one-third of its crude oil consumption, meaning domestic fuel prices—particularly gasoline—remain highly sensitive to global oil fluctuations.

The article further warns that even if the Strait of Hormuz reopens, global markets are likely to remain unstable, as uncertainty persists over whether Iran could block the strategic waterway again, keeping energy markets under continuous pressure.
