Tribal Elders Agree Ceasefire Along Pakistan-Afghanistan Border Areas

DID Press: Tribal elders from border regions in Pakistan and Afghanistan have reportedly reached an agreement on a ceasefire following several days of cross-border clashes and casualties.

According to reports, tribal leaders in Bajaur District announced on Monday that an understanding had been reached with counterparts across the border in Afghanistan to halt hostilities.

The agreement reportedly follows recent armed exchanges along the border area involving Kunar Province, which had raised concerns over a possible escalation of violence.

Under the draft arrangement, both sides are expected to refrain from firing from Bajaur and Mohmand regions toward Kunar, while reciprocal firing from Afghan territory is also to be suspended.

No official confirmation has yet been issued by Pakistani authorities or the Taliban administration in Kabul regarding the reported ceasefire.
