DID Press: A high-level 14-member Taliban delegation led by Neda Mohammad Nadeem has traveled to Kazan to participate in the 11th “Russia–Islamic World” forum scheduled for May 13–15, 2026.

According to Taliban Higher Education Ministry spokesman Mawlawi Ziaullah Hashimi, the delegation includes senior officials from multiple ministries, including industry and commerce, finance, economy, labor and social affairs, mines and petroleum, and public health, along with the Taliban ambassador to Russia.

Hashimi said the visit comes at the invitation of the Russian side and that the first joint Afghanistan-Russia economic and trade commission meeting is also expected to be held on the sidelines of the forum.

Officials say the meetings are aimed at expanding economic cooperation, trade relations, and investment opportunities between Afghanistan and Russia.

The “Russia and the Islamic World” forum, hosted annually in the Republic of Tatarstan, serves as a platform for political, economic, and cultural engagement between Moscow and Muslim-majority countries.
