Kabul and Tehran Emphasize Joint Investment for Economic Growth
DID Press: A senior Taliban diplomat met with Iranian officials in northeastern Iran, where both sides stressed the importance of expanding economic cooperation and joint investment to strengthen regional growth.

Mawlawi Noor Mohammad Motawakkil met with Gholamhossein Mozaffari in Mashhad, according to official accounts.
During the meeting, Mozaffari highlighted the deep cultural and historical ties between the two countries, saying there is strong potential for expanding economic cooperation. He described Afghanistan as a long-standing and valuable economic partner and called for greater use of shared opportunities.
He also underlined that investment is a key requirement for economic development on both sides of the border, adding that closer cooperation is essential for mutual growth.
The Iranian official further noted progress in cooperation on combating narcotics, saying both sides’ approaches are becoming more aligned and should be leveraged to reduce and eventually eliminate the problem.
In response, the Taliban envoy called for the resumption of taxi services between Herat and Taybad and raised the issue of transferring Afghan prisoners from Iran.
He stressed the importance of implementing bilateral agreements, saying that doing so could improve trade, transit, and economic conditions for both countries.
