Herat Stadium to Receive AFC-Supported Artificial Turf Upgrade
DID Press: Officials in Herat say the city’s football stadium will be equipped with a new, high-quality artificial turf in collaboration with the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), with completion expected within one month.

The Afghanistan Football Federation in Herat confirmed that the project aims to upgrade the stadium to international standards and improve conditions for the development of football in the province.
Shah Rasool Ahrari, head of the Herat football federation, said the new turf is of high quality and is expected to remain usable for up to 15 years. He added that the existing artificial surface will not be discarded and will instead be reused in another football field.
The upgrade is expected to significantly improve facilities for official matches and training sessions, providing athletes with a more professional playing environment.
According to engineers involved in the installation—reportedly from Türkiye—the new turf is designed in line with global football standards and installed using modern techniques and technology to ensure durability and performance.
Herat Stadium is one of the most important sports venues in western Afghanistan, hosting approximately 500 football matches annually.
