DID Press: Turkish security sources say the National Intelligence Organization (MIT) has detained a senior member of ISIS’s Khorasan branch in a special operation and transferred him to Turkey.

Turkish media, citing security officials, identified the detainee as Ahmed Kazanci, also known by the aliases “Abu Ubaida” and “Ibrahim.” He reportedly worked in ISIS-K’s media wing and later assumed responsibility for its media activities in Turkey after the arrest of Ozgur Altun.
According to intelligence findings, Kazanci had traveled between Turkey and the Afghanistan–Pakistan region, joined ISIS-K, and played an active role in the group’s training camps. He is also accused of helping transfer recruits from Turkey to areas under ISIS-K influence.
Security sources said Kazanci survived airstrikes on ISIS positions in Pakistan and later attempted to re-enter Turkey illegally to resume his activities, but was arrested near the border during an operation.
Officials added that during interrogation he admitted to membership in ISIS-K, receiving ideological and military training, and participating in propaganda and media operations for the group.
Turkish authorities said the operation disrupted potential ISIS plots against the country and exposed parts of the network used to move fighters into the organization.
