Trump: Iran Has the Right to Possess Ballistic Missiles

DID Press: Donald Trump has stated that Iran “should have some ballistic missiles,” suggesting that other regional actors also possess similar capabilities.

Speaking on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in France, Trump said: “When others in the region have missiles, it is natural that Iran should have some of this capability as well.”

His remarks contrast with longstanding U.S. policy, under which Iran’s missile program has often been described as a security concern and a subject of diplomatic negotiations.

Analysts say the statement may reflect a shift in tone or a pragmatic recognition of regional military balance, particularly amid evolving security dynamics and recent escalations in the Middle East.
