Taliban PM Meets Kazakh Deputy Prime Minister in Kabul

DID Press: Mullah Mohammad Hassan Akhund met with Serik Zhumangarin in Kabul on Saturday, as the two sides discussed expanding economic cooperation and strengthening bilateral relations between Afghanistan and Kazakhstan.

Leading a high-level delegation, Zhumangarin said that Kassym-Jomart Tokayev attaches special importance to Afghanistan and closely follows relations between the two countries, describing Afghanistan as an important regional partner for Astana.

The Kazakh official stated that his country is interested in increasing imports and trade with Afghanistan and announced that a joint Afghan-Kazakh Chamber of Commerce would be inaugurated in Kabul. He also extended an official invitation to Mullah Mohammad Hassan Akhund to visit Kazakhstan.

For his part, the Taliban prime minister pointed to what he described as recent progress in various sectors and said these developments had been achieved with the cooperation of friendly countries. He added that relevant institutions would be instructed to take practical steps toward expanding cooperation and strengthening ties with Kazakhstan.

Akhund also invited President Tokayev to undertake an official visit to Afghanistan.

The visit reflects growing economic engagement between Kabul and Astana, particularly in trade, investment, transit, agriculture and regional connectivity initiatives.
