Shah Hussain Murtazavi: Ethnic and Religious Diversity Is Afghanistan’s Valuable Asset

DID Press: Shah Hussain Murtazavi, a senior former advisor in the Afghanistan republican administration, has said that ethnic, linguistic, and religious diversity in Afghanistan represents a “valuable national asset” that can strengthen unity and social cohesion if preserved through mutual respect and peaceful coexistence.

In a post on his personal Facebook page, Murtazavi emphasized that Afghanistan’s historical experience demonstrates that its people are among the notable examples of religious coexistence and mutual acceptance in the Islamic world.

He added that this spirit of tolerance and shared understanding should be preserved and strengthened as a foundation for national unity and stability.

Referring to the days of Ashura, Murtazavi said that blood donation represents a lasting symbol of sacrifice, compassion, and social responsibility, noting that such humanitarian actions can help provide life and hope to those in need.

His remarks come amid broader public discussions over cultural and religious freedoms in Afghanistan, including restrictions reported on mourning ceremonies and religious media activities in parts of the country.

Murtazavi’s comments have been interpreted by some observers as a reminder of the importance of protecting Afghanistan’s religious and cultural pluralism in a time of growing social constraints.
